☀️ Sacred Mornings: How My Morning Routine Changed Everything

For a long time, my mornings were simple. Functional. I’d get up, do what needed to be done, and move into the day. Nothing was necessarily “wrong,” but it wasn’t intentional either. I wasn’t using those precious early hours to pour into myself, connect spiritually, or anchor into the woman I wanted to be.

That changed when I began to treat my mornings as sacred—time just for me, before the world, or let’s face is…my kids, asked for anything.

Now, even in the beautiful whirlwind of single motherhood, homeschooling, and running a heart-centered business, I make space to rise on purpose. And it has transformed everything.

Here’s how I crafted a morning routine that fills my cup deeply—and how you can, too.

Why Morning Routines Matter (Especially for Moms)

The way we begin our day impacts everything—from how patient we are with our kids to how calm and clear we feel in our work.

A mindful morning routine helps:

  • Regulate the nervous system

  • Cultivate gratitude and clarity

  • Boost energy and metabolism

  • Deepen your connection to God and self

  • Increase productivity without rushing

  • Set the emotional tone for the whole household

But more than anything, a morning routine is a way to come home to yourself before the day begins.

My Morning Ritual: A Sacred Start in a Quiet House

I wake up early—before the sun and before the little feet hit the floor. That quiet space is golden. It’s mine. It’s when I tend to my body, heart, and spirit.

Here’s what that looks like for me:

1. Wake Up Early for Fajr + Dhikr

The first thing I do is pray Fajr. There's something deeply powerful about beginning the day in stillness and devotion. I let my forehead touch the ground, offer my intentions to God, and whisper words of dhikr (remembrance). It grounds me. It reminds me I am held, guided, and loved.

2. Hot Water with Lemon

After prayer, I drink a warm mug of lemon water to gently wake up my digestive system. It’s simple, but this daily ritual helps detoxify the body, hydrate my cells, and energize me without a crash.

3. Dry Brushing to Stimulate Lymph and Energy

Next, I take a few minutes to dry brush. This ancient Ayurvedic technique boosts circulation, supports detox, and makes me feel alive in my skin. I brush in gentle upward strokes, breathing deeply, and offering gratitude to this body that carries me through so much.

4. Morning Pages and the 5-Minute Journal

This part of my morning is everything. I sit with my journal while the house is still quiet and let my thoughts pour out.

  • I start with Morning Pages, a practice from The Artist’s Way. It’s three pages of uncensored, stream-of-consciousness writing. It helps me clear the mental clutter and uncover hidden thoughts and desires. This is where I discovered I was in an unhealthy marriage. This is how I found clarity in my purpose and eventually had the courage to move states and build a life more aligned with my truth.

  • Then, I fill out my 5-Minute Journal. I jot down three things I’m grateful for, my intentions for the day, and affirmations. It’s quick, powerful, and helps me step into gratitude and empowerment.

5. A Clean Kitchen + Morning Quran with Coffee

One of the best gifts I give myself is a clean kitchen the night before. Waking up to a clear, fresh space is an act of self-love. I brew my coffee, light a candle, and sit down to read or listen to the Quran. Even just a few ayahs nourish my soul.

This moment—coffee in hand, spiritual wisdom in my ears, sun rising outside—is holy. It’s a reminder that I don’t need to rush. I just need to be.

6. Time to Wake the Kids, From a Full Cup

Only after I’ve filled my own cup do I go wake up my kids. I greet them with softness and presence, not urgency. That energy sets the tone for how we homeschool, move, and live together.

How My Life Has Changed Since Committing to Mornings

Since making my mornings sacred, I’ve experienced a powerful shift. I feel more present. More energized. More connected to my purpose and to God. I’m not rushing or reaching for distractions—I'm rooted and clear.

This rhythm doesn’t mean perfection. Life still moves. But having a foundation that supports me allows everything else to flow more intentionally.

Sample Morning Routine (If You’re Starting Fresh):

  • Wake up 30–60 minutes before your kids or work

  • Drink warm lemon water

  • Pray or sit in quiet reflection

  • Dry brush to stimulate energy

  • Write in your Morning Pages or 5-Minute Journal

  • Read or listen to something uplifting

  • Stretch or gently move your body

  • Avoid your phone until after you’ve filled your cup

Final Thoughts

You don’t need to escape your life—you just need to anchor into it, one breath, one cup of tea, one prayer at a time.

Mornings are a portal. A fresh slate. A whisper from the Divine that today is a new chance to live in alignment, in peace, in power.

And mama—you deserve all of it.

Need help creating your own morning rhythm that works for your unique season of life? I’d love to guide you in creating a flow that nourishes your soul and fits your reality. Let’s rise together. ☀️
